In this post I would like to share my insights of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Developer certificate.
In January this year, Microsoft has released new MB-820 Exam: Microsoft Certified: Dynamics 365 Business Central Developer Associate. Back than it was in beta phase, until beginning of April.

I have took certification exam on 30th May this year and passed. To be honest it came out of nowhere to my mind and I took it without any preparation. Scheduled same day exam and did it in 1 hour.
Not the easiest task to complete, bit of stuggle.
Exam contained with three parts:
- Use case scenarios
- Technical Questions
- General Business Central questions
With something around 50 questions in sum and time for completion of all the questions was 1.5 hours.
Use case scenarios part
In my experience, it was the hardest one. But for you it must not be the case. Answers which you will give need to be depended on Use case provided by Microsoft. So, even you would do implementation differently, its more to do it as its required by Use case. Until I realized this, I lost lot of time and answered pretty much all questions from first part, about 15, so I had to go back from beginning and review answers. 😑
Technical Questions
There were some different types of questions, to fill out empty spaces directly in code, select multiple answers or select one answer to the question. Questions in this part were all technical questions, but covering all areas of Business Central.
General Business Central questions
In this part there were some general questions, not only technical, but also implementation wise. How does multi tenant environment functioning, debugger questions, differences about environments, and so on. Here the questions were mostly to connect one with another.
Preparation for the Exam
Where to start from for the preparation? It really depends on the level of your current experience with Business Central. But questions are random across lot of different areas in Business Central, there is no suggestion to focus more on some parts.
You could take first preparations provided by Microsoft:

Certificate exam also is great way to test your knowledge.
Good luck with passing your Developer Certificate for Business Central!
